Liam Mifsud grabbed the third db ranking tournament of the Under 18’s Category beating Steve Muscat with a convincing 8-5 victory. After this final both players are now tied up in points in the top of their category’s ranking list.
Under 23’s Category
Scott Muscat, current Under 23’s European Champion, returned to his winning ways clinching the tournament with a convincing 8-5 victory over favorite Dejan Grech. Both players are now tied up in points at the top of the category ranking points table and secured a place in the Under 23’s National Team A that will be representing Malta in the coming European Championships being held in our country between the 15th & 21st February.

Ex European Champion, Clayton Attard went back in time and re produced a splendid victory in the final of the db Third Ranking Tournament of the season. In the final Attard went on to beat Chris Tabone with a convincing 8-3 victory. Thanks to this victory Attard has now secured a place in the Mens National Team A that will be competing in the coming European Championships being held in Malta. Reaching the final Tabone now jumped in the top spot of the mens’ ranking list.

Qormi United listed their name for the first time among the all time winners of the team knockout competition this year gently sponsored by Logografix. The final encountered two Qormi sides which offered some great pool at St. George’s BC Qormi.
The first session saw Splendid Bar taking a 4-1 lead but Qormi United recovered well and leveled the score to 5-5 at the end of session two. Qormi United kept the pace in the third session and went to clinch their first ever title with a final 11-6 triumph.
The winning team was composed by Johan Attard, Kevin Mercieca, Anton Cuschieri, Miguel Falzon, Scott Muscat, Phillip Zammit, Dejan Grech and Troy Zammit while Splendid Bar team included Tony Drago, Ray Caruana, Jurgen Attard, Wayne Bonnici, Antione Aquilina, Mario Cutajar, Elcid Aquilina and Jean Pierre Woods.

In a thrilling final PL Zejtun A edged St. George’s BC B in the decisive frame to win their first ever title since their debut only two years ago. Thralling 2-9 Zejtun players did not surrender and recovered four frames in a row to make 7-9. St. George’s won the next frame to make it 10-7 and needed only one frame to lift the trophy. But another great comeback saw PL Zejtun level the score to 10-10 and the decisive frame was needed to declare a winner. In great suspance Joe Camilleri for PL Zejtun chalked every shot and went on to grab the frame and the trophy to his born town.

The Malta Pool Association would like to inform all its club members that a general meeting is being held on Monday 18th November at PL Fgura commencing at 7.30 pm.
During the meeting the executive committee will be giving out information about all events scheduled till the end of the season. The draws for the national team league, starting in January, will also be held together with the draws of the Euro Ranking Tournament No. 4. All clubs are obliged to attend.
Neil Caruana won the second Under 18’s ranking tournament of the season. In a well balanced final Caruana edged youngster Nordai Desira 8-6. Thanks to this victory Caruana joined Steve Muscat at the top of the category’s ranking list from which the two national teams, representing Malta in the coming European Championships, will be chosen.
Leon Azzopardi won the second series of the Under 23’s Ranking Tournaments Category beating Owen Amato 8-5 in the final. Azzopardi was steady throughout the game and left no stone unturned to win his first ranking tournament in the association’s ranks. Great potential ahead of the lion.

Ray Caruana clinched the Over 50’s category second series of the season overwhelming Brian Grech with a convincing 8-1 victory. Caruana had a great return in the association’s ranks and with a stunning performance booked a place in the category’s national team A that will be representing Malta in the coming European Championships being held between the 16th & 21st February in our country.
