Matthias Debono won the Under 20’s World Ranking Tournament No. 3 category. In the final Debono outclassed Casdy Vella with a convincing 7-2 victory.

Lyden Debono retains the National Title Crown
Lydan Debono won the Cisk Lager National Singles Championships and notched his name for the second consecutive year. In the final the San Gwann player had the better of Clayton Castaldi with a convincing 8-3 triumph.
Thanks to this victory Debono clinched a place in the Mens National team that will be representing our country in the World Championships being held in Ireland in October. Clayton Attard and Clayton Castaldi, respective winners of World Rank Tour 1 & 2 already booked places in the Mens Team.

Malta Under 25’s National Team clinch European Title
The Maltese Under 25’s national team conquered Ireland in winning the category’s European Team Championships. The Maltese heroes, led by team manager Noel Cassar, claimed the title over hosts team Ireland with a convincing 5-3 victory.
Ryan Pisani left his mark winning three super frames while Dejan Grech and Alessio Magro notched a frame each that added another silverware to the outstanding association’s international palmares.
Dejan Grech crowned European Champion
Dejan Grech is the new 2022 European Eight Ball Pool Champion. In the final the Senglean lion cruised English Luke Gilbert with an emphatic 8-4 victory.
After winning the Under 23’s European Singles Tiles in Malta in 2020 and won the Under 23’s team event for three times Grech has today notched his name on the most prestigious European event.
His dedication and strong belief in himself awarded him his much desired euphoria.
Ghaxaq Bocci Club claims the double
Ghaxaq Bocci Club ended the year in style claiming victory of the Christmas Cup Tournament. In the final the second division club went on to beat premier league giants Senglea Bocci Club with a convincing 11-6 victory. Ghaxaq had an excellent start winning six frames in a row and kept on their nerves that brought home their second silver ware of the season after triumphing in the Second and Third Division category team knockout competition earlier in November.
Ghaxaq Bocci Club team was composed by Jesmond Schembri, Leon Azzopardi, Clint Grima, Christ Mills, Gilmour Scicluna, Scott Muscat and Joe Camilleri.
Johan Attard conquers the International Rules Events
Johan Attard has been crowned as the 2021 International Rules champion. In the grand final Attard’s superb form left no stones unturned overshadowing Warren Falzon’s challenge with a convincing 8-1 victory.
Attard’s triumph awarded him the grand prize offered by the Malta Pool Association to participate in all the Ultimate Pool Series events next year in England with all expenses being entrance fees, flights and accommodation costs covered by the association.
Splendid Bar claims Premier & First Division Team Knockout
Splendid Bar won their first major silverware claiming victory of the Premier & Division One Team Knockout competition. In a thrilling final the Qormi based team had to fight till the end and only managed to edge Senglea Bocci Club 11-10 in the decisive frame with a perfect clearance by magician Gary Carr.
Splendid team included Clayton Castaldi, Maverick Zammit, Anton Cuschieri, Phillip Coleiro, Lydan Debono, Gary Carr and Jed Abela.
Ghaxaq Bocci Novita Bagno wins Second & Third Division Team Knockout
Ghaxaq Bocci Club striked an impressive win over Kumpanija Mosta in the final of the Division 2 & 3 Knockout category. The Ghaxaq players were next to perfection and left no stones unturned to register an 11-0 notable triumph.
The winning team was composed by Stephen Mangion, Clint Grima, Christ Mills, Joseph Camilleri, Jesmond Schembri, Scott Muscat and Gilmour Scicluna.

National Singles Championships
CISK NATIONAL SINGLES CHAMPIONSHIPS 2022
For the thirty fourth consecutive year the Malta Pool Association will once again be holding the national singles championships open for the association’s registered members.
The championships will include a maximum of 48 players from all categories as follows:
Mens – Top 34 players in the ranking list as at end of Euro Rank 4
Under 20’s – Top 4 players in the ranking list as at end of Euro Rank 4
Under 25’s – Top 4 players in the ranking list as at end of Euro Rank 4
Over 50’s – Top 6 players in the ranking list as at end of Euro Rank 4
Players not ranked as per above criteria can still apply and will be awarded entry subject to availability.
The winner of the event will be declared national champion, win a place in the national team representing Malta in next year’s World Championships being held in October and a cash prize of Euro 1,000. Entry fee Euro 25.
Registrations are being accepted by Tuesday 27th December via the below link. Draws are being held on the 28th December at St. George’s Band Club Qormi. Event games will take place at St. George’s Band Club Qormi every Wednesday commencing on 5th January 2022.
International Rules Series of Events
The Malta Pool Association gladly announce the organisation of a new series of events playing the latest International Rules introduced at the Ultimate Pool Professional Series.
The schedule includes four events planned as follows:
Series 1: 10th, 11th, 13th November
Series 1 : 17th, 18th , 20th November
Series 3: 7th, 10th, 11th December
Series 4: 15th to 18th December (including final knockout stage)
Thirty two players will be allowed to participate in these events. The winner of each series (total of four winners) will make it to the final knockout stages out of which the winner wins participation in the Ultimate Challenger Series 2022 taking place next year in May, July, September and November. The prize include flights, accommodation on bed & breakfast basis and entry fees for all the four series of events taking place in England.
The local series tournaments, being held at St. George’s Band Club Qormi, will be played on a double elimination format hence allowing all participants double opportunity to progress in each event. Entry fee per tournament is Euro 15 and winners of every round will pay an additional Euro 5 per round. Registrations are being accepted by Tuesday 2nd November via the below link:
All participants are to pay in advance the entry fee (Euro 60) for all four events. Entries are being accepted on first come first served basis and subject to receipt of full payment via Revolut on 79499117 or in cash by not later than Tuesday 2nd November. The progress round fees of Euro 5 are to be paid in cash at the tournament before each commencement of each round. No entries will be entertained without the settlement of fees. In case of over subscription preference will be given to players registered with the association and participating in its ranking tournaments.
The association also clarifies that this new series of events is not linked with the current ranking tournaments events valid for the European and World Qualifications.
