The Malta Pool Association will be representing our country in the Ultimate World Eight Ball Pool Championships, this year taking place in Ennis in Ireland. The championships will set their balls rolling on Tuesday 26th August and will reach their climax with the finals on Thursday 4th & Friday 5th September.
Malta will be represented with four teams Men, Under 18’s, Under 23’s and Over 50’s. World Champions for the last two consecutive years Under 18’s Denzel Falzon, Jake Castaldi, Chaylon Castaldi and Nick Muscat, led by team manager Vince Saliba, will be challenging for the triple crown.
The Men’s squad, managed by Carmel Cilia, includes Clayton Castaldi, Ryan Pisani, Johan Attard, Lydan Debono, Dejan Grech, Chris Zaffarese, Miguel Amato and Owen Amato. Ranked number four the Maltese squad is considered as one of the main title contenders.
The Under 23’s team is composed by talented youngsters Matthias Debono, Nordai Desira and Liam Mifsud while the Over 50’s team, led by Pasquale Sciberras, includes Kevin Mercieca, Ivan Rizzo, Antoine Aquilina, Frans Abdilla, Marco Bonello and Manuel Mallia.
All players will also be participating in their respective category singles event, doubles event and in the prestigious Masters Tournament.
