Christian Spiteri won his first ever Ranking Tournament having the better off Rudger Xerri in the Under 23’s Ranking Tournament No. 2. Spiteri was in good shape and form and went on to beat Xerri with a convincing 8-4 victory that awarded him a place in the Under 23’s national team competing in the European Championships being held in our country between the 18th and 24th February 2023.
Nick Muscat grabs the Under 18’s Rank 2
Nick Muscat won the Under 18’s Euro Ranking tournament beating first time finalist Dielyn Edwards 7-4 in the final. Thanks to this final Muscat won a place in the Under 18’s Team A that will be participating in the European Championships being held in Malta between the 18th & 24th February 2023.
Attard wins Over 60’s Rank 2
Alfred Attard edged Tonio Mifsud 8-7 in the final of the Over 60’s category. Both players had a good performance with Attard keeping momentum to win the award. Both players are now on equal points at the top of category’s ranking points list.
Johan Attard claims victory of the first International Rules Series
After winning the first Euro Ranking Tournament of the season, Johan Attard, kept his pace this time winning the first International Rules Tournament. In an amazing final Attard edged Dejan Grech 8-6.
Attard opened well and in the first 20 minutes, of the 60 minutes scheduled game, secured the first four frames in a row. But Grech did not surrender and in just 5 minutes he recovered three frames that widely opened the game. Both players completed a number of dishes but it was Attard that ticked the first 8 frames and won a place in the final playoffs that will award the grand winner participation in next year’s Ultimate International Pool Series.
The second series of the International Rules Event will take place at St. George’s Band Club between the 12th & 16th September. Eight spots are available for this second series and will be accepted on first come first served basis upon registering in the below link and settling payment via Revolut or BOV Mobile App on 79499117.

Attard claims first Mens Euro Ranking Tournament
Johan Attard added another silverware to his long list of awards this time winning the first Mens Euro Ranking Tournament of the season. In a well balanced final Attard had the better of Troy Zammit with an 8-5 convincing victory.
Attard opened very well taking a 4-1 lead but Zammit kept his nerves on and by the end of the first session levelled the score to 4-4. After the interval both players won a frame each but it was Attard who kept full consistency winning the three consecutive frames that awarded him the tournament and secured him a place in the Mens A National Team that will be representing our country in the coming European Championships scheduled to be held in February in Malta.

Caruana edges Mallia in the Over 50’s Euro Ranking Tour 1
Ray Caruana had to work hard to beat Manuel Mallia in the final of the Over 50’s Rank Tour 1. In a very balanced final the first 6 players were shared equally. Caruana won the next two consecutive frames while Mallia managed to recover next frame thralling 5-4. Caruana once again clinched the next two frames and needed only one frame to win the tournament. But Mallia’s time was not yet over winning the next two frames and with the score 6-7 was back into the game. In the fourteenth frame Caruana had a good break and did not led himself down and went on to win the frame that awarded him the title and a place in the Over 50’s Team A national team participating in the European Championships being held in Malta in February 2023.

Aquilina conquers the Under 23’s Euro Ranking Tour 1
Elcid Aquilina claimed victory of the Under 23’s Rank Tour 1 having the better of Matthias Debono with a final 8-5 score. Aquilina lead 4-1 but Debono managed to recover two frames to open the game. Aquilina’s experience boosted his success and kept him concentrated winning important frames that awarded him triumph and a place in the Under 23’s Team A that will represent our country in the European Championships being held on our soils in February next year.
Muscat grabs the Under 18’s Euro Ranking Tour
Steve Muscat won the first Euro Ranking Tour of the season of the Juniors Category beating his younger brother Nick 7-2 in the final. Experience prevailed with Steve booking a spot in the Under 18’s Team A that will be participating in the coming European Championships being held in Malta in February 2022.
Mifsud win Over 60’s Euro Rank 1
Tonio Mifsud went on to beat Alfred Attard in a thrilling final of the Over 60’s Rank Tour 1 category. Both players produced high level of pool but it was Mifsud who managed to edge Attard in the decisive frame that awarded him an 8-7 victory and top rank spot in the category ranking list.
Euro Rank 1 to commence 25th July
The draws of the Euro Ranking Tournament No. 1 were held this evening at St. Georges Band Club in Qormi.
Not less than 135 players registered for the first series of tournaments eligible for the qualifications for the European Championships being held in Malta between the 18th and 25th February 2023.
All games are being held at St. Georges Band Club and will set the balls rolling on Monday 25th July. Winners of the Mens, Under 18’s, Under 23’s and Over 50’s category win a place in their respective national team.
