RAY CARUANA CLAIMS NATIONAL SINGLES TITLE

Ray Caruana is the new national singles champion. In a thrilling final Caruana edged defending champion Gary Carr 8-6. Both players were in great form and shape producing high level of pool that merit their standards.
Winner of the recent Over 50’s European Championships, Caruana produced one of his most impeccable performances in his carrier dishing the table numerous times and leaving no space for Carr to recover. Carr also managed to produce some clearances but were not enough to stop Caruana’s momentum started a week before at the European Championships held in Ireland.

Johan Attard claims victory of the first International Rules Series

After winning the first Euro Ranking Tournament of the season, Johan Attard, kept his pace this time winning the first International Rules Tournament. In an amazing final Attard edged Dejan Grech 8-6.
 
Attard opened well and in the first 20 minutes, of the 60 minutes scheduled game, secured the first four frames in a row. But Grech did not surrender and in just 5 minutes he recovered three frames that widely opened the game. Both players completed a number of dishes but it was Attard that ticked the first 8 frames and won a place in the final playoffs that will award the grand winner participation in next year’s Ultimate International Pool Series.
 
The second series of the International Rules Event will take place at St. George’s Band Club between the 12th & 16th September. Eight spots are available for this second series and will be accepted on first come first served basis upon registering in the below link and settling payment via Revolut or BOV Mobile App on 79499117.

Lyden Debono retains the National Title Crown

Lydan Debono won the Cisk Lager National Singles Championships and notched his name for the second consecutive year. In the final the San Gwann player had the better of Clayton Castaldi with a convincing 8-3 triumph.
 
Thanks to this victory Debono clinched a place in the Mens National team that will be representing our country in the World Championships being held in Ireland in October. Clayton Attard and Clayton Castaldi, respective winners of World Rank Tour 1 & 2 already booked places in the Mens Team.

Johan Attard conquers the International Rules Events

Johan Attard has been crowned as the 2021 International Rules champion. In the grand final Attard’s superb form left no stones unturned overshadowing Warren Falzon’s challenge with a convincing 8-1 victory.
 
Attard’s triumph awarded him the grand prize offered by the Malta Pool Association to participate in all the Ultimate Pool Series events next year in England with all expenses being entrance fees, flights and accommodation costs covered by the association.

National Singles Championships

CISK NATIONAL SINGLES CHAMPIONSHIPS 2022
 
For the thirty fourth consecutive year the Malta Pool Association will once again be holding the national singles championships open for the association’s registered members.
 
The championships will include a maximum of 48 players from all categories as follows:
 
Mens – Top 34 players in the ranking list as at end of Euro Rank 4
Under 20’s – Top 4 players in the ranking list as at end of Euro Rank 4
Under 25’s – Top 4 players in the ranking list as at end of Euro Rank 4
Over 50’s – Top 6 players in the ranking list as at end of Euro Rank 4
 
Players not ranked as per above criteria can still apply and will be awarded entry subject to availability.
The winner of the event will be declared national champion, win a place in the national team representing Malta in next year’s World Championships being held in October and a cash prize of Euro 1,000. Entry fee Euro 25.
 
Registrations are being accepted by Tuesday 27th December via the below link. Draws are being held on the 28th December at St. George’s Band Club Qormi. Event games will take place at St. George’s Band Club Qormi every Wednesday commencing on 5th January 2022.
 

Lydan Debono crowned National Champion

Lydan Debono is the new national singles champion. In the final of the Cisk Championships Debono had the better off Ryan Pisani with an 8-5 victory. Pisani opened well clinching the first two frames but Debono kept on his nerves and leveled the score to 2-2. Pisani won the next frame but Debono once again recovered well grabbing five consecutive frame and opened a 7-3 lead. Pisani did not surrender winning the following two frames but it was not enough to stop Debono from dishing the table and clinching the title.
Thanks to this triumph Debono pocketed Euro 1,000 and notched his name in the all time national champions.
