The Maltese showman, Gary Carr, entertained the crowd with a thrilling victory edging Dejan Grech in the decisive frame of Tour 1 final.

Carr went on to lead 6-2 but a great comeback saw Grech pulling back some incredible clearances and setting the score at par on 7-7 with decisive frame to determine the winner. Grech took command of the last frame but missed a double on the last yellow that proofed vital as Gary Carr set his pace on the table dishing all reds in style.

Carr has now secured a place in the national team to represent Malta in the European Championships being held on our soils in February next year.

Liam Mifsud conquered the Under 23’s category Tour 1 overwhelming Matthias Debono 8-5 in the final. Mifsud played solid during the whole event and this triumph conceded him a spot in the category’s national team participating in the European Championships being held in February in Malta.

Dielyn Edwards notched his name for this first time in his short spell playing in the Under 18’s category. In the final the Qormi youngster went off to beat favorite Nick Muscat 7-6.

Edwards had a great tournament seeing off Castaldi brothers in the earlier rounds. Thanks to this victory Edwards has now secured a spot in the Under 18’s national team that will represent Malta in the European Championships being held in our country in February 2025.

After an absence of two years Jesmond Schembri returned to the national rankings tour and immediately left his mark claiming victory of the Over 50’s category.

In the final Schembri had to fight his nerves to overcome Conrad Catania in a thrilling 8-6 ending. Schembri had a magnificent start leading 4-0 but Catania did not surrender lightly. At the end of the first session Schembri led 5-2 and widened the gap to 7-2 needing only one frame to win the title. Catania’s thoughts were different and with great confidence went on to win four consecutive frames narrowing the gap to 6-7. In the fourteenth frame Catania was on the verge of winning the frame but a miss halted his chances to go into the final decisive frame.

Schembri kept on his nerves and went on to clear to the table, winning his first ever tour in the association’s ranks and a spot in the Over 50’s national team participating in the European Championships being held in Malta in February 2025.

Veteran Marcel Micallef grabbed the first tour of the Over 60’s category overwhelming Gaetano Camilleri 7-5 in the final.

Both players played solid but Micallef’s experience edged Camilleri in the last frames of the game.

Thanks to this victory Micallef earned a place in the Over 60’s national team that will be representing Malta in the coming European Championships being held on our soils in Feburary.

Caruana wins the Over 50’s Tour 4

Ray Caruana was in a splendid form overwhelming team counterpart Antoine Aquilina in the final of the Over 50’s category.

Aquilina won the first frame but Caruana’s comeback was terrifying winning eight frames in a row that awarded him the silverware and a place in the Over 50’s national team that will represent our country at the European Championships taking place in Killarney, Ireland, in February 2024.

Veteran Attard claims Over 60’s Title

Alfred Attard defeated Mark Debono in the final of the Over 60’s category. Attard’s experience overshadowed Debono’s performance with the veteran claiming a 7-2 win.

Thanks to this victory Attard consolidated his top spot in the category’s ranking list and now has guaranteed himself a spot in the national team that will be defending the Over 60’s European title in February in Ireland.

Steven Muscat grabs Under 18 Tour 4

Steven Muscat edged Nordai Desira 7-6 in the final of the Tour 4 category. Both players offered an excellent performance but was Muscat who managed to pot the last and decisive eight ball that saw him jump into the top spot of the category’s ranking list followed by Chaylon Castaldi and Denzel Falzon respectively.

The top two players in the ranking list, at the end of Euro Tour 6, will join Jake Castaldi and Nick Muscat in the national team that will be defending the European Title in Ireland in February 2024.

GARY CARR EDGES SCHEMBRI IN A THRILLING FINAL

Gary Carr edged Kevin Schembri in the final of Ranking Tour No. 2. Carr had a good run taking a 6-1 lead but Schembri kept his nerves on and recovered well equalizing the score to 7-7. The last frame was decisive with both players kept on the edge in an exciting ending. Schembri had a golden opportunity but unfortunately snookered himself on the blackball and missed the pot that would have awarded him the frame and the title.

Carr kept solid and went on to clear the table keeping the crowd in suspense doubling the black ball in the middle pocket.

Thanks to this victory Gary Carr has now booked a spot in he national team that will be representing our country in the coming European Championships being held in Ireland in February.
