Manuel Mallia’s patience and dedication awarded him a splendid victory over his club mate Marco Bonello in the final of the Over 50’s Ranking Tournament No. 1.
Mallia started well taking a 4-1 lead but Bonello recovered well and ended the first session on a 4-4 parity. In the second session both players kept constant and with the score displaying 6-6 both players eyed victory. But it was Mallia who managed to win a long frame giving him the lead that boosted his hopes and provoked him into clearing the table in the following frame that secured him victory and a place in the national team representing our country in Killarney, Ireland, at the European Championships being held in February.
